Northwest award-winning artist Sherry Pepke is the featured artist for May at the Carpenter House Museum and Art Gallery.  Pepke expresses her unique interpretations of nature in her paintings and print making in a variety of styles, using the mediums of watercolors, oils, acrylics and colored pencils.  The end result is paintings with richly layered, textural surfaces.  The public is invited to meet Sherry and see her awesome display of art all during the month of May, Fridays through Sundays, Noon to 4:00.

Sherry will be holding an artist’s reception on Sunday, May 6, 2-4 PM.

WRITE SPIRIT member Joanne Iverson shared some of her recent writing efforts at the May 4th Mother’s Tea held at the Swauk Teanaway Grange.  Iverson, along with fellow members Virginia Depicolzuane, Bonnie Hawk, Pat Woodell, and leader Lyn Derrick, entertained the Mothers with their original and very clever writings.  The WRITE SPIRIT group meets monthly at the Carpenter House Museum and Art Gallery.

Obsessively taking photographs and painting plein air has given Karen several new ideas and subjects to paint for her 2012 art show at the Carpenter House Museum and Art Gallery main floor in April. Her reception on  Saturday, April 7th (1-4 pm) is for anyone interested in seeing the results or just curious about the painting process. If you can’t make it that day do stop by any other Friday, Saturday or Sunday from 12-4 pm to view the show during the month of April. Karen will be the host of the gallery most of those days and would like to share what inspires her to paint with you. She also encourages anyone who has the slightest interest to attend the Fresh Air Artists Festival in July to pick up additional skills and spur your creativity.

The art creations of  our two “B’s” – Betty Holmes and Bonnie Hawk – are on display at the Carpenter House for the month of November.  Betty has experimented with different mediums through the past decade and is currently using oils in the studio and oil pastels when painting outdoors.  The versatile works of Bonnie Hawk include watercolor, colored pencil and photography.  Both artists have been key players in the creation of the High Country Artists and have supported our efforts for the past decade.  All are invited to come visit the Carpenter House Gallery this month and support the creative efforts of these two innovative ladies.

All of the High Country Artists works are on display throughout the second and third floors of this historic museum and art gallery.  It’s a guarantee that you will find something there to catch your eye!

The High Country Artists Associate Members are displaying their new creations at the Carpenter House Gallery now until the end of September.  This exhibit offers an impressive mix of styles and mediums in bright, colorful, and bold displays.

“As we head into summer we are looking forward to painting in the beautiful outdoors of our area.  The Fresh Air Friday group have already started to engage nature’s summertime face with paint, brush and camera.  The Fresh Air Artists Festival in July will be the occasion for artists from near and far to paint, write and take pictures; socialize with fellow artists and vie for awards.  HCA has hosted a number of tour groups who come to see art in the setting of an historic house.  The sun shines warmly on the activities of the High Counrty Artists.”

Virginia Depicolzuane’s Art on Exhibit at The Carpenter House Gallery for month of June

As a colorist, the ever changing face of nature – the sky, water, and earth with all its people and creatures – are of unending fascination to Virginia Depicolzuane.  Her current show displays a little of each of those elements.  Her works include storm clouds with the sun breaking through, birds, landscapes and figures, as well as the sun shining brightly on red southwestern cliffs and cool green forests.  Virginia’s exhibit runs now till the end of June, with doors open Fridays through Sundays, Noon to 4:00.

“2011 is my year for being more prolific than ever before in producing fine art. Take advantage of this fact, and attend the next showing of my work at the Carpenter House Museum & Art Gallery for the month of April. I am selling last years paintings at ridiculous low prices to make room for this large production surge. Even new works are still priced low so that anyone can afford to enjoy quality fine art in their home. These are one of a kind textural, luminescent works that portray great feeling.  Even if you aren’t looking to buy art, do come by this month long show in April to view some new art and say “hi”. Experiencing the result of my creativity is the real reason I paint, so I welcome others to share this with me. I will be the gallery host during the whole month.
